Hope you had a great Christmas. Prissy and I had a day filled with talking to family and looking at old family photographs. Boy time sure flies. One minute you are young and skinny the next you have those gray hairs and poundage. Well here comes those new years resolutions.

We received the new Stampington & Co. publications. 'Somerset Studio', 'Somerset Life' Winter, the new 'Art Journals', and 'In Love'. There are some wonderful projects in each of these books.

Today through the end of the year all our Christmas is 20% off.

We skipped December with our card swap so we will begin fresh in January. The theme is Valentine's Day. Sign up the first week in January and the cards will be due the third week.

Next week we have our card class on Tuesday so sign up early. We will skip the One hour Page Layout until the following week. Then the class will be offered both Thursday night & Friday morning.

Have a great Day.

Merry Christmas!

My family has another reason to celebrate Christmas Day. We were blessed to have our brother born on Christmas Day. He is our CJ. His full name is Carroll John. He has twinkling mischievous eyes which often reflects when he is up to something and that is most of the time. He has a big heart and tries to take care of everyone. His grandaughter calls him Big Daddy(that was our grandfather's name). So I would like to wish him a very special

Happy Birthday CJ!

CJ and Backie.

Merry Christmas to all!

Sausage, & Cheese 'N' Egg Casserole

My goodness here we are Christmas Eve. I have a few things to share with you. One is a recipe for a breakfast casserole you make the night before and bake the next day. This is from a Southern Living Cooking School booklet.

Sausage, Cheese 'N' Egg Casserole

1 pound pork sausage
1 ( 2.64-Ounce) package McCormick Original Country Gravy Mix
3 cups milk
4 large eggs
12 white sandwich bread slices
2 cups ( 8 ounces) shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
1/4 cup chopped green onions

Cook sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat stirring until it crumbles and is no longer pink; drain well. Set aside.

Whisk together gravy mix, milk, and eggs.
Cut crusts from bread slices, if desired.
Place 6 slices in bottom of a lightly greased 13x9 inch baking dish.
Sprinkle evenly wit 1 cup cheese, sausage, and green onions.
Top with remaining 6 bread slices.
Pour gravy mixture evenly over casserole.

Cover and chill 8 hours or overnight.

Bake, uncovered, at 375 degrees for 25 minutes or until set; sprinkle with remaining 1 cup cheese, and bake 5 more minutes.
Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
Makes 8 servings.

This makes a great Christmas morning breakfast.

I baked this week for our open house on Monday. Well the start of my baking did not start so well. I whizzed through the grocery store Saturday night buying stuff for baking. I hate to grocery shop. Well my first item was a pound cake. You know the kind with 2 sticks of butter, 5 eggs lots of mixing. I' m dumping my sugar and blending with the butter, then I add all those eggs. Next I mix my flour and baking powder before mixing with my butter mixture. This pound cake is looking good. I pour it into my pan and place it in the oven. Well I started smelling something. I peeked into the oven and here I have Mount Vesuvius instead of a lovely pound cake. The first thing I look at is to see what kind of flour I used. Guess what? I shopped too fast and bought self-rising flour. So the self-rising did not need my added baking powder. Well I cleaned my mess and decided I would start again after I closed the store. My brother said it was because I was not doing any baking anymore. You know if you don't use it you lose it. Well the next cake turned out. I t was good enough that he was gonna let me bake him a cake to take to my other brothers for Christmas. I did not get to bake that cake because he had to leave early because his mother-in-law was air lifted to the hospital yesterday. She had a heart attack. There was 100 percent blockage, so they put in a stint. She is in ICU right now but hopefully will be moved to a room today or tomorrow.

The next thing to share with you is a poem by Sandie Cuppett.

Christmas comes but once a year,
Filling us with joyous cheer.
We celebrate our Savior's birth
Giving gifts while filled with mirth.

Now let us not forget the reason
We give and get gifts this season
The greatest gift, so meek and mild,
God's only Son, the humble Christ Child.

He came and lived to show us how
To live forever, not just now.
God's gift to us He still remains.
From Child to King, He forever reigns.

Geneva, Prissy, and I wish you all a Blessed Merry Christmas!

I just received an address update for sending cards to our servicemen in the hospital. Do not send to the Walter Reed Hospital address. Someone did research and found this address: Holiday Mail for Heroes; P.O. Box 5456; Capitol Heights, MD. 20791-5456. Janet sent her cards to the hospital and they were returned so a friend found this address. It goes here and then they take the cards to the hospital.

Remember Monday is our open house here at Scrappys'. Drop by for some cookies and punch.

We will be offering our page layouts each week. The previous schedule was confusing everyone. So each week we will have a layout class on Thursday night and Friday morning. Everyone enjoyed our National Card Making Day so much we have decided to have a mini make a take blitz the 3rd Saturday of each month. Space will be limited so you will need to sign up early. Stay tuned for more info.

Our recipe comes from 'Holiday Appetizers' by Pillsbury

Garlicky Cheese Bites

1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury refrigerated garlic-flavored breadsticks

4 sticks (0.75 oz each) mozzarella string cheese

2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

1 1/2 cups marinara sauce, heated

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Spray 24 mini muffin cups with cooking spray.

Unroll breadstick dough.

Cut dough crosswise into thirds; separate into 24 strips.

Cut each cheese stick into 6 equal pieces (24 pieces total).

Place 1 cheese piece on short end of each dough strip; roll up cheese piece in dough.

Pinch and seal dough to completely cover cheese or the cheese will bubble up and out during baking.

Place rolls, seam sides down, in muffin cups.

Turn rolls in cups to coat all sides with cooking spray.

Lightly sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Bake 15 to 18 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.

Remove from pans to serving platter. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Can be made ahead, covered and refrigerated up t 1 hour before baking.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I enjoyed everything that my sister and her family made. She sent leftovers home and I had a second go round of cornbread dressing. I love that stuff. I made a pot of Hazelnut coffee and enjoyed my dressing. I could eat that all day long. To me it is better cold than hot. As I was loading my plate up with a little of everything I asked if there was a wheelbarrow around to get me a Prissy to the car later. Prissy had a ball visiting. She loved wandering the yard and playing with the kids. But she was pooped when she got home. She went to sleep and hardly moved when I got into bed. Then just before daylight she got cold and burrowed under the covers. This morning I had showered, dressed, put on my makeup, fed Pokey, put her food out and she was still snoozing under the covers. I eased the covers back and like the little princess she is she stretched and asked to be rubbed. She finally stretched enough to get up and get going, but she is doing a lot of sleeping here at the store today.

Jane came by and played a little bit today and brought me some wonderful cookies. prissy keeps begging for a bite but they have chocolate in them so she doesn't get to try them.

My crazy sister and nieces got up to join the 4:00 A.M. crowd shopping today. When I saw them at breakfast they were still pretty high with energy but I'm sure they will be fading later. Been there, done that, don't need to do that again.

We have some new Webster's pages that came in Wednesday. So beautiful.

The festival of lights are downtown this weekend and the Christmas parade is Monday night.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Easy Jello Cake

Well I am a bit behind in my posting. This is Christie Trout's recipe for:

Easy Jello Cake

1 Box of cake mix

2 - 3oz packs of your favorite jello

1 small container of cool whip

1 cup boiling water

Bake cake following package instructions.

While cake is very hot, poke holes over entire surface.

Mix boiling water with one pack of jello.

Pour over hot cake.

Cool cake for at least 3 hours.

Mix cool whip with 1 package of jello.

Spread cool whip mixture over the cooled cake.

Let chill in refrigerator for one hour.

Enjoy!

Keep any leftover cake in refrigerator.

You can mix and match jello flavors. Christie likes cherry inside and on top!

Hope everyone is having a great week. I'm sure you have begun preparations for Thanksgiving.
Don't get so involved that you miss the enjoyment of what you are
Thankful for ---FAMILY. Then the day after Thanksgiving take some time to relax. Remember Friday we have our tables available so come and play.

As I was out feeding Pokey this morning, there was a little frost around. Pokey even had a little bit on his back. It was not too cool out because Prissy wanted to sit in the sun. I shooed her in and told her we had to load up. There were no warm beds to cuddle into this morning.

Have a great day!

Saturday, November 15, 2008

Well get ready for the big chill again. It is supposed to be pretty cold by tomorrow night. I wish it would be tonight instead. Then Prissy and I would stay cosy at home all day Sunday instead of having to bundle and come to work in the cold. She does not like the cold. All I got from her today when I started to leave was a small tail wag. It was just enough to let me know I could go and leave her at home today she didn't want to come with me.

I received this e-mail and thought some of you who make cards would like to participate. The request is to send a Christmas card to a recovering soldier at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. If you are interested here is the address:

A Recovering American Soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue, NW
Washington, D.C. 20307-5001

Next week all of our Fall paper is on sale at 20% off. The sale starts Monday and runs through Saturday. Bring this e-mail to get your discount.

Have a great weekend.

My Favorite Mexican Casserole

Well the cooking club out did themselves again. Everything they made was wonderful. The theme today was casseroles. We had 'Hash Brown Casserole', 'Pineapple Casserole', 'Chocolate Nut Sundae', and 'My Favorite Mexican Casserole'.

So today I will share Maritza's recipe.

'My Favorite Mexican Casserole'

1 1/2 cups crushed tortilla chips
1 pound shredded cooked chicken meat (from a small roasted chicken)
1 can ( 15 1/2 ounces) garbanzo beans, drained
1 can ( 15 1/2 ounces) kidney beans, drained
1 can ( 15 1/4 ounces) corn kernels, drained
1 can ( 8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 cup prepared salsa
1 cup chopped red onion
1 green bell pepper, cut into 1/4-inch dice
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves
1 tablespoon minced garlic
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
6 ounces grated Monterey Jack cheese
6 ounces grated sharp Cheddar cheese

Garnishes:

2 cups diced (1/4-inch) ripe tomatoes
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease a 13x9 inch baking dish
Then scatter the crushed tortillas on the bottom.
Combine all ingredients except the cheeses.
Place half the mixture in the baking dish over the tortilla chips.
Combine the cheeses and sprinkle half over the mixture.
Repeat the same again over the cheeses and sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top.
Bake 30 minutes.
Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Serve the garnishes in bowls so guests can top their own portions.

This week in the card classes we are making little Christmas Boxes. They are just the right size for a gift card, candy, or something that sparkles. As the Holiday approaches I will be doing various gift ideas as well as cards.

The weather keeps looking like it might snow. I just wish we would get a little rain.

Well Miss Priss finally went to the groomers today. It sure was hard taking her by herself. When she just shivers and shakes I just about can't leave her. But when I went to pick her up I knew the groomers were ready for her to leave because she was just a barking. It was not the playful bark but the scolding bark like when she is mad. I'm sure she does not like being in a cage. Anyway she looks good. She does not look like the scraggly little lamb. Of course, in a few days she will look curly again and she will want to hide under the covers now that her hair is short.

Well enjoy your evening and we will see you later.

Saturday, November 1, 2008

Basic Grey's Wassail came in yesterday. There is a calendar kit, card kit 6x6 pads, stamps, and four papers. One of the papers has Christmas packages and the rest are papers you can use for any theme. The calendar kits have papers on each page with an assortment of embellishments to add. If you don't feel creative there is an instruction sheet to go by.

I guess everyone is going to be by the TV today for the Florida/Georgia game. Or you may head on over to the fair that started yesterday. Whatever you do have a great day.

P.S. My dumpster was empty when I got to the store today!!!!! Yeah!!!!!

White Chili

TGIF.

We had a little Fall Festival in the store today. A few make and takes, a cupcake walk, and a 'Finally Fall' layout. we had a fishing pond that you fished for your discount on your purchases. Fun and games that is what the end of the week is all about.

Here is our recipe for the week. Geneva made this and it was awesome. Geneva served the chili without the sour cream, jalapenos, or corn chips. We did not need any of the extra fat or heat. It is from Paula Deen's magazine. The recipe came from Diane Hixon of Niceville, Florida

White Chili
Makes 10 to 12 servings.

5 cups chopped cooked chicken
3 (15 ounce) cans Great Northern beans, drained
1 (32 ounce) box chicken broth
1 (16 ounce) jar mild salsa
1 ( 8 ounce) package Monterey Jack cheese with peppers, cubed
2 teaspoons ground cumin ( Geneva left this out)
Optional Garnish: cheddar cheese, sour cream, and jalapenos

In a 6-quart slow cooker combine chicken, beans, broth, salsa, cheese, and cumin.
Cover, and cook on high for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
Reduce heat to low; simmer 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Garnish with Cheddar cheese, sour cream, and jalapenos, if desired.
Serve with corn chips.

To make a quick chili dip, combine all ingredients except chicken broth.
Cook as directed.

Be safe tonight and I will see you tomorrow November 1st. WOW!!!!

Tomorrow is the last day of October!!! Already we have had some unusually cold weather. So tomorrow we are having a Fall Festival at the store. There will be a few make and takes. Some old fashioned games like fishing, cupcake walks, and who knows what else I have up my sleeve. Did someone say discount. Yes, there will be a few of those. There will be the Fall Layout themed for those pumkin patch photos or trick or treat shots. That will run from 10:30 until 11:30. Then there will be a lunch break. About one o'clock we will start the other fun activities.
So come as you are or come in costume just come have some fun!!!

Lucy will hear the results from her competition tonight. We will be checking her blog for the results.

Have a warm evening and see you for the fun tomorrow.

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

Well, I did not get a new recipe this week from anyone so I will go home tonight and come up with something for tomorrow's post.

Friday October 31st we will have the one hour layout with me. Lucy is pretty busy right now with all of her challenges. Also, all day will be a Fall Festival at the store. Lot's of surprises and maybe a few make & takes. I will give you more info closer to the day.

If you noticed our pumpkins we no longer ave a bad pumpkin. Some little fairy sister came and transformed our melting pumpkin. Joshua and Emily can't say that it looks gross. I have a new scarecrow so hopefully he will appear in the next couple of days.

If anyone is interested in participating in a card swap ask me for some details. We may start a little swap. I will keep the sign up small so you do not have to make so many of the same card. Each swap will have a theme.

Well I better get home and research some recipes.

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

Well the morning class is over. We did the Christmas card. Of course there was a bow on the card. I can't do a card without a bow. There was a small issue with the joy. I think it was gluing and tying the ribbon. But they got both issues resolved.

Our new issues of Somerset Studio and Artful Blogging just arrived. We also received a new publication 'Where Women Create'. There are some wonderful creative spaces showcased.

We have some new ribbon and some Basic Grey papers. No Wassail has not arrived yet.

Have a wonderful Fall day.

Monday, October 20, 2008

What a wonderful day. The air was nice and cool. I even wore a long sleeve this morning but by lunch time I was ready to shuck it off. I spent the day yesterday working on my paper work. I did take a break long enough to bake some cranberry muffins. Prissy got a bath early because she made a little trip to the wet muddy back yard. This was at 7 A.M. So much for trying to sleep in.

The card this week is a Christmas card. It is getting closer. I can't believe November is here already. The one hour page layout is Thursday night this week. You are going to learn how to make paper flowers.

If you have signed up for the water color group on Thursday here is a list of items to bring. Please bring water color paper, markers, and water color brush. These are items you will need each time you meet.

Well the Book Club group is here so I better sign off.

Wednesday, we played hooky and went to Valdosta. I'm getting too old to run the roads late at night. I have been dragging ever since. Tonight we have the crop night so tomorrow will be very interesting.

See Ya!

Sausage Tortellini Soup

The day started out with me oversleeping. Of course daylight comes later now so it still seems like you should still be snoozing away. I stayed up way too late last night working on some paper work. The lights went out about 2 a.m. I'm used to turning in about 11:00. But I enjoyed such a glorious morning as went to feed Pokey. The feed bucket did not even need the famous broom for me to reach. Then our little red fox went dashing across the back yard as I approached the feed bucket. He ran from our fence across Pokey's pasture into our neighbors back yard. But the most wonderful sight was out on Lake Jeffery's Road. I slowed down as a small deer went leaping across the road. I stopped to see where he came from and spotted about 5 others waiting to cross. One was very small but had lost it's spots. I started to move on and watched my rear view mirror and saw them make their dash. What a way to start the day!!!

Well I have decided to post the recipe as part of post so it will remain in the archive.

Sausage Tortellini Soup - Rose Gerencser

1 lb. Italian Sausage
1 onion; chopped
1 can beef broth
1 can tomato soup
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can kidney beans; drained
4 cups water
1 tsp. Italian Seasonings
salt and pepper to taste
1 pkg. tortellini

Remove sausage from casing and cook in large Dutch oven with chopped onion and garlic.
Cook and stir until sausage crumbles and is no longer pink; drain off fat.
Stir in rest of ingredients except tortellini .
Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
Stir in tortellini and simmer until tortellini are done.

Remember Saturday October 11th is our yard sale from 8 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
Bargains, Bargains, Bargains!!!

I guess I better get my self to bed early tonight so I will be a bit more perky tomorrow.

Tuesday, October 7, 2008

What a day we had Saturday. Thanks to everyone who participated in the National Card Making Day. We did one card per hour. The day just flew by. I think everyone did well making their cards. I will try and post some of the pictures from Saturday.

Remember Saturday is our Yard sale. We have people travelling the state to set up their tables. The sale will run from 8:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon. The "vendors" will set up along the sidewalk beside the store. Come and enjoy shopping for those crafty bargains.

We bought our hay bales and pumpkins yesterday. Boy, those pumpkins sure are small this year. I still have to find a big scarecrow. The mums are just starting to show up in the stores. Hopefully, we will soon have some cooler weather so the pumpkins won't start melting in the heat. There is nothing worse than a stinky pumpkin.

I better get ready for tonights card class. See ya later.

Friday, October 3, 2008

Well here it is a week gone by. I have been busy getting ready for all those card makers coming tomorrow. Yep, it is National Card Making. The store will be hopping tomorrow. We will make a card an hour, starting at 10:30 a.m.

I actually did a scrapbook page for the one hour class this morning. Hopefully, I won't have to do that very often.

Check out the new recipe from Carole Nickodam.

Next Saturday is our garage sale. Various ladies will set up tables outside to sell their stamps and crafts. So come on by to grab a bargain. We will start at 8:00 a.m.

Saturday, September 27, 2008

Well here it is the weekend. Game day in Gainesville and in Jax. The weather is great for all the ball games. You can even feel the festivals coming soon.

"Just Cards" walked in the door for all you ladies that have been patiently waiting.

Next Saturday is National card making day. We will make a card every hour, so sign up early.
The cost will be $1.00 per card. You will buy tickets for how many cards you want to make.

I'll be working my paperwork tomorrow.

Have a great weekend.

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Hello Fall!!! It was so wonderful this morning. My temp. gauge on my car read 65 degrees at 8:30 a.m. The cooler weather seems to make everyone feel more festive. You feel like being out and about. The wind rustling the leaves is such a wonderful sound. You need a nice comfy swing and some hot apple cider to sip.

Prissy keeps greeting people as they come in the door. But she really starts the fuss when it is someone who brings her treats. I have to make sure she does not put on too much weight. I think her energy will keep her from plumping up. Frank clipped her nails for me this week. I tried a week ago and the first nail I clipped too close and bless her heart she gave a little squeak. Well that did it for me. I put the clippers away. Frank said next time he would do it by himself because I kept telling him he was going too far back. Boy after that little adventure I had to take a break but Prissy started running around and having so much fun. When she starts running you can not catch her. She is curled up in her little pink bed sound asleep.

Today new magazines from Stampington & Co. arrived. They are the Stampers Sampler, Somerset Workshop, and Somerset Life. Cute altered pumpkins are in Somerset Life. I caught those on a quick breeze through. Yesterday, we received some new leaf punches. There were a couple of those new 3 1/2 inch Giga punches. New stickle colors from Suze Weinberg. These have more "Glitz". Tim Holtz distresser is back on the shelf.

I will post a new recipe later tonight. Ge those favorites turned in so I can post them on the blog.

Today I received the cutest purse from my nephew, niece, and great nieces in Missouri. It has beads, dragonflies and of course ladybugs. I just love it. I will have to give them a call tonight.

Gotta go. See you tomorrow.

Monday, September 22, 2008

Well, here it is Monday and I missed posting this weekend. I was busy yesterday working on all my paper work. We had several wonderful showers throughout the day. Today really started feeling like Fall. I even wore my jeans and long sleeve shirt today, but it did not take long before I was down to my t-shirt.

We received some cute word books today. The words are Gator, Tiger, and Pumpkin Patch. They are made of chip board and are very sturdy. So many cute possibilities.

Tomorrow we have two card classes (they are both filled). We will make a Christmas card. You know it is not that far away. If you are signed up for the class bring a mat knife and a self-healing mat. We will be cutting a cute window in our card.

The one hour layout with Lucy is on Thursday night this week. I will get the page posted tomorrow.

Have a good night.

Friday, September 19, 2008

I was thrilled to step out and feel the cool air this morning. It put us in the mood to put out our Fall decorations. Emily helped me hang the flags and pumpkins. She is quite the little helper. Her favorite job at the store is to empty our waste baskets. But if you hear her say the can is full, you better go check it out because it means the paper is overflowing.

On the way into work I saw some wild turkeys crossing the road. It is such a thrill to see all the wildlife we have in our area. It makes the trip back and forth to town such a pleasure. You never know what or when you will see something.

We had our one hour layout class this morning and everyone did a great job. Tonight we are having our crop night. What fun!!!!

We have a new tool in our arsenal. Today we purchased a twelve inch Cricut. Boy can we do some fancy cutting. So look out for some new experimenting.

Have a great weekend. See you tomorrow.

Thursday, September 18, 2008

The air was a little cooler this morning. My thermostat read 70 degrees at 8:00 a.m. Maybe we really will have some Fallish temps next week. I know as I was looking at my long sleeve shirts this morning and thinking "soon". I know we wish for cooler weather then we wish for warm weather. Go figure.

I think I have finally figured out why my little Prissy does not like going into the back yard at night even though there is plenty of light. She sometimes begs to go out and then wants to turn right around and head back into the house without any stops. I sometimes will close the door and force her to "go be quick." At first I thought her hesitation was because her buddy Rhett was not there with her. Then I reasoned maybe the grass was too high. Next was she is having trouble seeing. But!!! this morning as I let her out I spotted a big yellow cat sitting in the 4 wheeler seat out beyond the fenced area of Prissy's domain. But I know cats can do some climbing. So I now think that is what has Miss Priss spooked. But I feel as though the big yellow cat keeps the varmints away so Miss Priss will have to get over being skittish.

Let me know if you try the recipe I posted yesterday. Everyone tells me it is so good even the kids will eat it. I will post a new recipe each Wednesday so if you have a great recipe pass it on and we will share with our Scrappy group.

I am a little behind with my posting. But hopefully I will get better and be more consistent. These card classes are just keeping me going. I have now added a night class on Tuesday night and it is getting full. If we out grow that class I will try to squeeze in another night. Or maybe I will add a Saturday morning class.

Have a good evening and we will see you tomorrow.

Well where has the week gone!!!! Lucy is still out of town. She got caught with that bad weather from Gustav. So tomorrow's class has been postponed for two weeks. The next One Hour One Page Layout is next Thursday night. One week from today. It will be the Daisy D"S paper and titled You.

We have added and night class for making a card. The class is Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. Just call the day before so we can plan for you. Our first class was last Tuesday and was with water coloring.

Stay cool and see ya soon.

Monday, September 1, 2008

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Prissy and I were off yesterday but I did not stay home. Frank and I went to Ocala and then took the scenic tour home. Boy their sure is a lot of woods between here and the coast. Several rivers and creeks were pretty full. On our journey we passed several cute little shops but I refrained. Frank went to a couple of craft stores with me so I thought it only fair so we went to a tool store. The longest stop was at Sam's. Man that place was busy. And of course when we go out of town we have to eat at a restaurant that we do not have in Lake City. So we ate at my usual spot ---- Chili's. I love their mushroom jack fajita. I like mine without the tortilla and guacamole. We were gonna have a pit stop for coffee but needless to say the woods were bare. We had our coffee after we got home.

Things are kinda quiet here at the store this morning and I am working on the card for tomorrow. Remember to bring a watercolor brush to the class.

Well, see ya later.

Wednesday, August 27, 2008

Fedex just arrived with the new Ali Edwards book "Sharing Your Story". Her book gives you ideas for scrapping your life with mini books. There is also a chapter on making your own mini book from scratch.

See you tomorrow.
By popular demand we are now offering or card making class on Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M.
Our first class is in September. Call and make your reservations early because the spots fill up fast. If the day classes keep being full we may have to add another day class.

Remember this Friday is our crop night. Seating is limited, so call early to save your seat.

Monday, August 25, 2008

Lucy's one hour layout has been cancelled for Thursday night August 28th. It has been rescheduled for September 11th . She had something come up and had to cancel the class.

Take Ten arrived today as well as Somerset Studio and Celebrations & Holidays. These are all Stampington & Company publications.

The illusive Lori came by today. She is packing and planning to move. She is planning a yard sale for next month so get ready.

Cynthia from our altered group checked in. She has been busy and travelling.

Have a great night and see you tomorrow.

Saturday, August 23, 2008

Well we finally received a little bit of weather. I kept hearing those pine limbs fly off the pine tree outside my window. From the looks of our yard we will be pulling the little red wagon around collecting limbs. But thankfully we have not lost a tree. I did see an oak tree down at the entrance to our neighborhood. Coming into town this morning it was a quiet ride not much traffic. When I drove through Hardees to pick up my coffee I did not have to wait in line. That is unusual for a Saturday morning. Looking out the front door of the shop it looks as though traffic is beginning to pick up.

What a trip my little Prissy is. Last night during all the heavy winds she had to go outside. OK. I took her out and urged her to hurry up. Well the little stinker decided to tour the yard. Any other time she just barely steps out the back door. Well here she is taking her time and lifting her head to smell the air as I stand in the rain and wind using everything I know to hustle her up. Finally she decided to fast track back to the house. I remember one hurricane we were riding out down home. I think it was Francis. This storm sat out in the Bahama's for several days before coming on in at Jensen Beach. Well here it is the middle of the night Rhett and I are huddled in our safe spot because the radio weather man said it was time to find that spot. Prissy is out in the next room playing with her toy. Tossing it in the air and barking. I finally got her to come into our safe spot. I'm not sure if she is fearless or just little dingy. No doubt she is my little pip. Right now she is curled in her little pink bed by my chair.

To take some of the rainy day blues away I am having a store wide sale. Everything is 20% off today. So be careful driving and come on down and save some money.

Friday, August 22, 2008

Hi again. UPS stopped by today with our supply of Versa Color stamp pads. Some new Color Box, Palette, and Memories stamp pads. There are a couple of new journal stamps from Stampers Anonymous. A new Tim Holtz ATC stamp called "Flutter" and his " sprockets ".
Teresa Collins Die cuts for Halloween and Christmas. You can bind these together to make little books. A couple of new Heidi Swapp clear stamps.

The one hour layout class went great this morning. The weather held off for them. Looks like we may get a few nasties tonight from Fay's back side. I'll probably be asleep when that happens.

Stay safe and see you tomorrow.

We are here for you!

Hello soggy people. Well I guess we have been lucky so far with Fay. We had worse weather last week during an afternoon thunderstorm. There may be more weather on the back side but so far it looks like it might be north of us. I'm looking out the front door of the shop and it looks wintry. People are out shopping at Wally World. Our parking lot is still draining very nicely thanks to Frank. I have brewed some Cinnamon Spice coffee and Hazelnut Cream decaf for those of you who get cabin fever.

Tuesday, August 19, 2008

Whoops! UPS just got here with "Vintage Moon" papers. Night Owl, Blue Moon, Moonrakers, and borders. There is also an overlay that looks like a window. Hmmm. These would make cute pages for Fall or heritage. Limitless possibilities.
Graphic 45's "Playtimes Past" and "Botanicabella" just arrived. "Playtimes Past" is based on old fashioned children's nursery rhymes, games, and toys. Of course, both sides of the paper is too cute. "Botanicabella" is just like it sounds lots of nature and old fashioned floral prints. They are both gotta have papers. I'll post pictures later today or tomorrow morning as I wait for the rain.

Monday, August 18, 2008

Here is Miss Mallow's sister. Jack & Christie brought this white Miss Mallow the day we were having all that wind and rain. Christie tells me the second year the blossoms are the size of a paper plate. WOW!!!! She grows these plants from seeds off of the plants. She sure does have a green thumb.

Here is this Friday's one hour layout. Call early to save your spot. You can use one 5x7 or several smaller pictures.

Our card classes have been full lately so please call and let me know if you are coming. There is limited seating so I need a head count for chairs and supplies since I cut everything in advance. Remember to bring your basic kit. Scissors, glue, paper cutter, bone folder, and pencil. the class goes faster when you do not have to share tools.

Keep your heads up and stay dry.

Sunday, August 10, 2008

Here is the one hour layout for Thursday night at 6:00p.m. This is K&CO Blue Awning paper. Seating is limited so reserve your space early. Lucy will be teaching this class. The One Hour Class will rotate from Friday morning one week and the next week it will be Thursday night.
Emma joined us the day Lucy was here working.

Emma calls this her 'project'.She is talented just like her Mom.

Meet Miss Mallow. Jack and Christie gave me this plant. I call it a Hibiscus on steroids. Christie grows these from seeds and so generously shared one with me. She tells me Miss Mallow also comes in white. Don't you just love it!!!!

Well those altered ladies are here today playing with dimensional pastes. WOW! Next months' challenge is to do some recycling. Go Green! This month they printed pictures on fabric and used them in a project. They were all so wonderful.
Well Miss Priss stayed home today. She was torn between coming with me and the smell of bacon frying. Guess who won? The bacon of course. Here she is in one of her favorite spots. Not just on the bed but on a stack of pillows. Yep she is a princess.
Well better go and get something done around the shop.

Sunday, July 27, 2008

I better get caught up with pictures from this month before the month is over. Friends and family surprised me on my birthday with lunch and cake. Thanks to all the ladies who came and surprised me. I celebrated for several days. My brother and his family came up from Clewiston. I looked up and saw a cute little munchkin walking at the end of the table with a balloon. I said " I know her"! There was Miss Amy my brothers grandbaby. As I looked at the front door there was C.J. (my brother) and Jennifer (his daughter). We partied all afternoon and then moved the party to the house. So it was a very nice birthday having my two brothers and sister together.

Here is Miss Amy giving us a big smile.

Here is our next couple of visitors. This is Miss Genny. She is Geneva's grandbaby from Missouri. She got right down on the floor to play with Prissy. Prissy started to bark as she does when she is playing. This did not stop Genny. She just continued to reach for Prissy and this just egged Prissy to bark more. Genny is a cutie.

Prissy is not a visitor. She will be a regular here at Scrappy's. She will come greet you at the door. But mostly she will be seen hot on my footsteps or sleeping beside me in her little pink bed. Oh yea she is a beggar, so you might see her at the edge of your chair waiting for a hand out. Have no fear she does not bite.

There are a few changes to the store hours. Starting in August we will be closing the store at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and we will only be open on the second Sunday of each month. The rest of the week Monday through Friday hours stay the same 10:00 to 6:00. We are thinking about closing early on Wednesday afternoon but I have not made the decision about that yet.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Wednesday, July 23, 2008

Here is our card this week. We used Rubber Stamp Tapestry stamps. These are those peg stamps that make it so easy. It is almost like coloring by number.

We are back on track with our Friday layout class. This is the page for this Friday with Lucy. Here is the layout for those birthday pictures, 4th of July, or just a special celebration. Sign up early because the seats go fast. Lucy is offering a night class next week on Thursday if you are interested let me know so we can get it on the calendar.

Couple of new things from Tim Holtz. His word keys and almost mounted rubber stamps. Today we received the new 'Artful Blogging', 'Somerset Home' and 'Stampers Sampler'. As the UPS guy said as he left "see you tomorrow". So you never know what is new around here. I can't even remember what is new.

Tribute To Rhett

Today we said goodbye to one of my rugrats. Mr. Rhett was diagnosed this week with very aggressive liver cancer. We enjoyed 12 wonderful years together. He was my best bud, Dude and my honey bunny. He had those great soulful eyes that seem to talk to you. He was the one to cuddle. One of my funniest memories of him over the years was coming home from work and finding he had unrolled the toilet tissue and run down the hall and around the closet and started down the hall again.

When I first got him we went to visit my mother-in-law in Pennsylvania. We had to fly, I had a little bag he stayed in under the seat in front of me. He never made a peep. A little boy dropped a toy in the aisle and got down to pick it up and was surprised to see Rhett down there. During that visit his favorite toy was a half gallon plastic water jug. Mom would get so tickled to see him carry it around because it was bigger than him.

He loved to ride. Car, golf cart, or stroller it did not matter. You would tell him to load up if it was the car or golf cart. The stroller ride was considered a walk.

My other rugrat, Prissy is really gonna miss him. Rhett was her protector(even though she would boss him around sometime). From the minute I brought her home he has taken care of her. You might catch him cleaning her eyes or her ears. Prissy does not bark when she needs to go out, so sometime I would miss her trying to let me know she needed to go. Well, Rhett would have none of that. He would come over and bark to let me know she needed to go out. Prissy would take care of business but Rhett would just snoop. You know he did not have to go but she did. Dogs are pretty smart and give of themselves so lovingly.

So, here is a smile, a laugh, and yes a tear to say goodbye and we will miss you.

Quick note: Gayle's 'One Hour Page' has been cancelled for this Thursday night, July 17th.

Tuesday, July 8, 2008

We had a couple of new shoppers today. Abie and Gracie from St. Louis. These are Geneva's grandaughters. They like the glitz. Their favorite paper was all the glitter papers. Especially the pink. They are looking forward to doing a little scrapbooking while they are in town. When they left here they were headed over to see their cousins. They will be back to crop on Thursday.

This is our card for this week. You have a different fold as well as a cute little envelope. This is paper and ribbon by American Crafts. Bright and cheerful for all occasions.

Where in the world is Lori??? She went south to the beach and i have not seen or heard from her since. Has she become a beach bum?

Monday, July 7, 2008

Well here is the finished job. I did a little trimming out yesterday between the rain showers. I thought I would have trouble with the weed eater but it started on the second pull. It was a busy day. I also gave the rugrats a bath. They look so soft and fluffy. Prissy looks like a little lamb with her curly hair. Rhett needs a haircut because he is feeling this hot weather.

I was out on the patio watching the rugrats as they wandered the yard and noticed Pokey run from his hay bale. I thought 'oh no there is a snake in his hay'. Then out from under the fence ran a little fox with a Mockingbird hot on his tail. Boy those birds chase everything. Earlier i had spotted one after a squirrel. That maybe why Rhett isn't crazy about the back yard like he used to be. I spotted him being chased the other day. How long is nesting season? We do have a couple of Hummingbirds floating around. the love the confederate jasmine but that has just about bloomed out. Belinda needs to get back and freshen up their feeder.

Nan was here Saturday with a really neat book she made with tags. She had just a few more things to finish and she was going to post it on her blog 'Nan's Niche.' She is listed on blogs to visit.

This is Lucy's layout for Friday.

There is lots of glitter. This would be a great page for a birthday or a 4th of July layout. Sign up early the spots go fast.

How about some fun products to play with this Summer. There are words and swirls that are sticky on both sides. One side sticks on your project the other you sprinkle glitter or flock( looks like velvet). The flock kit has 12 colors. We also have several different types of glitter. You could even apply gold leafing.

Don't forget to check out the calendar for our sale days.

Saturday, July 5, 2008

I did it! Yep, I mowed the whole thing yesterday. Well I did miss one little spot in the rugrats yard. Oh well I will get it tomorrow when I try out the weed eater. That is if I can get it cranked. It is one of those things that has 3 different things to mess with while you are pulling the cord. First you pump the gas bubble. Then you have the choke, etc., etc. I even tried out the little red wagon. No, I did not roll the wagon or jack knife it turning to sharp. I took it slow at first then I let it rip. Boy, those oak trees are nice for shade but a bugger to clean up before mowing. At first I had to put the pin in the hole before I could pull the wagon with the mower, but I finally managed that. I'm thinking the rugrats might like to go for a ride in the little red wagon. Maybe we will do that tomorrow.

Geneva is probably wandering the caves today. Hopefully the weather is good for their trip. When they get back she will have her two grand girls from Missouri. They will be here a week before their parents arrive. I'm sure Geneva will keep them busy. They might even come by and do a little scrapbooking. Although I hear Gracie plays a mean game of cards. That is cards in the plural. You know once the gaming starts they want to keep playing over and over.

Well I did not have to protect Rhett from the fireworks last night. Things were pretty quiet around the neighborhood. There was one bonfire going but no loud noises. Although I did backfire with the mower one time. Pokey gave me such a look. Like I was bothering his munching on the hay bale.

We have a mocking bird that is driving me nuts. Hopefully that nest will hatch soon and they will be happy just flying around the yard. Right now it wants to dive bomb me every time I go to feed Pokey. Well this morning I carried the broom and just dared him to dive me. I guess it did not like the broom swinging around as I walked because he kept his distance. He stayed close and eyed me the whole time. That was the second trip. The first trip ended with me not able to reach the feed bucket so I had to go back for the broom. That first trip it was diving me like crazy. I love all the animals in the yard but I also love to be in my yard without being attacked.Well they will be flying soon.

Thursday, July 3, 2008

Well here we are the 4th of July. Boy time flies. Remember I will be closed tomorrow, but I will be opened on Saturday. Have a great holiday tomorrow and be safe. Enjoy all the fireworks and all the cookouts.

I plan to be riding the tractor tomorrow. Maybe I can cut the whole yard and be able to play on Sunday(the store is closed this Sunday).

Tuesday, July 1, 2008

Well, I finally finished the lawn on Sunday. I had to have a small break due to the rain. I tried to keep going but it started coming down too hard. At least I had the dust washed off. Typical Florida weather the sun was shinning in the time it took me to have something cold to drink. I was back at it and was finishing the the last few rounds and here comes the rain. I parked the tractor and briskly walked to the house before the boomers started. I don't do lightening. Rain doesn't bother me but I have a healthy respect for that electrical stuff. As I left the drive today I looked across the yard and thought 'Oh my gosh I gotta start mowing again'. With all this rain those skinny little grasses with the little black seeds pop up like crazy. The grass looks nice except for those things popping up here and there. The worst is when those white rugrats come in from the yard covered with little black seeds.

I have a digger in the back yard. There has been one around the house for awhile but now he is in the fenced yard where the dogs run. You know my two have odd little habits like wanting to go outside anytime between 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Well my oldest rugrat wanted out the other night about 2:00 a.m. The first thing he did when I opened the door to the patio was run up to the little brick wall around the patio and take a sniff. I thought oh dear whats he found. I peeked out before releasing him into the yard. Right there at the wall in the short hedges was the digger. Well I herded my little rugrat in the opposite direction as the digger started running. I had seen a hole by the hose reel at the end of the hedge so I figured he headed that way. I think the digger is coming in under the fence near where I feed the horse. I covered the hole as best I could but the next day I could see he had tunnelled again. This time I put one of Belinda's fern pots in front of the tunnel. If he can move that thing he is pretty strong. Well this rain has him looking for dry ground cause I have seen a few trenches dug around Frank's trailer.

Remember we will be closed for the 4th of July and there will not be a crop that night. Saturday the tables will be available for you to crop. Then we will be closed Sunday. The next 'One Hour Layout' is Friday July 11th.

How are those contest layouts coming? We need to have them posted in the store by July 11th so we can start voting.

Check the calendar of events we have several sale days this month.

Saturday, June 28, 2008

Tractor time!!! Yep, I went home early and got on the tractor. Boy had it been a long time since I did that. But it did not take long and I was ripping around those old oak trees. Before I had to navigate a lake and a canal, so oak trees were a piece of cake. I even drove in the pasture with Pokey. Of course I had fed him and he moved to the hay bale. The rugrats reacted the same. As I mowed their little fenced in area they were at the back door just a barking. When I finished their yard I let them out then they wanted to bark to get back in the house. Go figure. I did not get the whole yard mowed. Four acres takes a little more time than two. If our afternoon showers hold off I will be back at it today. If not today I will finish Sunday afternoon. Hopefully Frank won't fuss at me too much with the way I cut the yard. He is so much like my Daddy. Anytime we mowed for him it was a challenge to see if we passed his approval. One day I came home and Frank was on the mower. He reminded me so much of Daddy sitting on the tractor. The biggest difference was the hat. Frank wears a cap and daddy wore either a big straw hat but mostly he wore this odd shaped hat.

Here is the gang feeding Pokey. In the picture (back to front) is Hannah, James, Josh, Emily, and Joshua. This is the feed bucket I was telling the ladies I use a broom to pull the bucket over so I can feed Pokey. Well it keeps me from unlocking the side gate and walking around or racing Pokey to the bucket from the pasture side. Cause the minute you walk off the patio he heads for the gate. Either he hangs his head over the gate letting you know it is feeding time or he paces the fence line until you head for the bucket. No I do not ride. I am just babysitting. Some baby huh?

Well I have a new animal story for you. Here is a little visitor I spotted as I backed out of my garage the other morning. He was sitting right in front of Frank's truck tire. The haziness is due to camera shock. You know taking it from AC to the outdoor temperature. Well we know we have humidity this just gives a view of what it might look like if it were actually visible. Well the guy must of crawled back to the pond or he has dug a hole somewhere to lay some eggs. That happened at my other house. One morning I was outside and saw all these little turtles crawling over the grass headed for the canal.

Don't forget that I will be closed Sunday. I am only open the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.

Thursday, June 26, 2008

We had a full house this morning for the coffee & card class. Some familiar faces and a few new faces. Everyone had a great time learning to paste emboss. They still hate those bows.

Here is tomorrows layout with Lucy. These are the new Daisy D's papers. The blue paper is WorldWin Doublemates. It is light blue on one side and dark blue on the reverse side. The title is made with the Cricut. Get ready to do some cutting. There is some sewing on the page but we have a zippy little elf that will do that while you are cutting those leaves.

Blueberries, Blueberries! Here is my bowl of shredded wheat and those wonderful blueberries from Dan and Rose. Celeste made homemade Blueberry jam. But I have to save the jam for some good ole fresh southern made biscuits.

Gotta go save my older rugrat from the afternoon storms. He just hates them. Most of the time he is hidding in the back corner of the closet.

Wednesday, June 25, 2008

Just a quick post. Lucy will have her 'One Hour Layout 'on Friday.

Monday, June 23, 2008

Hope you all had a great weekend. My Niece and family came by for a visit. She has two children. Dalton and Hannah. It was fun visiting and seeing how our families change. It seems just like yesterday I played with these nieces and nephews and now they have children. My keeping up with these little guys has left the building. Maybe if I got serious and started my mall walking I could halfway go after them. but there is nothing like having a little one come to you to be picked up and want to share your cereal. Huh Geneva? The last thing she checked on tonight was if there was cereal and milk for her to share with her grand kids.

Well tomorrows card class is finally ready. We will be doing some paste embossing and yes there is a bow on the card. You know I can't do a card without putting a bow or ribbon somewhere. This will be our first Christmas card. You know we are approaching Christmas in July.

Rose and Laree came by today. Rose brought us some wonderful blueberries from their garden. Thank you Dan. He has a green thumb. Look for him at Nobles in Live Oak.

The saga with AT&T continues. Wait till you hear the latest. A group came by today to"help" me with my bill. You know the AT&T authorized guys. Well I let them know I was not interested!!!!! The left, came back in telling me they couls save me some money. I said OK. Then he left. Then the second person came inquiring about how much my monthly bill was running. I told her the amount. Surprise came from her and then she left. A couple of customers were here and were debating on whther to wait and see if the third guy came in, but they decided to leave. It was a good thing because all three came back in and wanted me to sign a contract. They told me they faxed a copy of the changes to the phone and hw much i would save. Guess what? The proposal showed 4 lines not the three I now have plus the contract was for 3 years. Now how can 4 lines save me money. I have been down that garden path before. Needless to say I said NO!!! not interested please leave. I was a little more verbal with them than that butthey did leave.

I better get home to the rugrats.

Friday, June 20, 2008

Here we are at the weekend again. Man the time flies. I spoke to my mother-in-law in Pennsylvania and her temperature this morning was 42 degrees. Whoa baby isn't that nice, as we sit in our 90 plus weather. She said she had to wear a sweater. Can you imagine. Turn down the air!!!!

Josh came tonight and got our lawn mowed. It sure looks nice.

Hopefully everyone is healthy. There is a nasty bug going around. I'm sure it is this hot weather and cold AC. So take care of yourselves.

The new Memory Makers came today. Lot's of cute layouts.

Have a great weekend and keep taking those pictures to crop.

Happy 90th Birthday Mom Musto!!!
This is my mother-in-law whom I call MOM. Today she turns 90 years old. WOW!!! I took this picture January 2007, her pacemaker had just been installed. Mom is very active and sharp as can be. Her only problem is her hearing. But hey, I hope I can look and feel as good as she does when I'm 60. She still putters with her garden. This time of year in Pennsylvania she is busy pampering her tomato plants. In the late afternoon she walks and waters her garden. Summertime gives her a break from her chorus group. Have a great day MOM!

Why God Made Moms Answers

You may have already read this or received it by email, but I saw it on a blog (real women scrap) this morning and thought it was pretty cute.

Why God Made Moms Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you Your mother and not some other mom?
1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?
1. My Mom has always been my Mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did Mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your Mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms and dads?
1. Moms work at work and work at home & dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller and stronger, but Moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your Mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your Mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your Mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my Mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

Rhett had a better night last night. He did not get up until about 4:30. That helped me sleep a little longer. I had to be up and at the car dealers early this morning. After 3 days they finally serviced the car and have the OK from the warranty company to fix my window. Those extended warranties are great if you can make it through all the huffing and puffing.

I found out why Sarah as been absent from the store. Maddie is gonna be a big sister this December. Congratulations to everyone.

Here are Maddie & Sarah at the store today.

Maddie has learned to do scrapbooking in a special way. We should all be so adventurous.

I think that is Cinderella and her Prince. Yes, they are upside down so Maddie can look at them.

Last night I had my wildlife fix as usual. When I came around the curve at the railroad tracks there was a skunk scooting across the pasture. Thank goodness I was going in the opposite direction. Then when I got home there was a big owl in the yard. I tried to get a picture but it was too dark. I loved seeing it fly up into the trees.

Everyone have a great Father's Day Sunday. Remember I will be closed.

See ya Saturday.

Well, the rugrats did not make it to the groomers. Prissy was a happy camper. Rhett was not feeling well so I took him to the Vet. Needless to say $$$$ later they decided he has a nervous stomach. He has antibiotic and some nasty paste to help him get back to normal. She also told me even though he did not like the food she put him on it was better for him. Sounds like a pediatrician doesn't it. When I took him home today I gave him his nerve pill. Hopefully, when the storms hit he will be a little calmer.

I passed these guys on the way to work the other day.

I bet they are loving this weather and are not worried about the price of gas. The road I come to town on is so beautiful and full of all kinds of wildlife. One section of the road has a canopy of trees. The drive gets me psyched for the day or relaxes me in the evening on the way home.

The book club meeting is Monday night. We will be working on a book about me. We are always doing pages of other people not ourselves. The first meeting is titled 'Then & Now'. Bring baby pictures and pictures of you now. You will work on these pages during the meeting. At the meeting we will decide what the next theme will be. The possibilities are limitless. We are gonna have some fun and learn some interesting things about ourselves and each other.

Well it is time to close the doors. See ya tomorrow!

Gosh, where does the time go!!! Here we are on Wednesday. Remember Friday's One Hour Layout has been cancelled. Come Friday morning and crop your own page. I'll put on the coffee.

Handyman Frank has worked on the parking lot flooding problem this week. I think he has it all worked out. We expected a little rain today to test it, but so far the rain has skirted around us. Hopefully we won't be rowing up to the front door next time we get a downpour.

Tomorrow, the rugrats go to the groomers. I have to figure a way to trick Prissy again. She just hates going. My little Prissy is just a homebody. The only time she likes to go is when I take them for a stroller ride or a ride on the golf cart. Oh well, her stay at the groomers is short.

Daisy D's new rub-on tape runners have arrived. Their new Chloe Marie paper is very pretty and more like their traditional designs. New Bazzill blossoms, chips, and the new wedding line. This new paper is 12x12 and has some beautiful designs. One design has butterflies. WOW!
There are a few new Bling colors. There is a pink and a creamy yellow.

Here is the bread recipe Geneva made for the cooking club last week. Everyone loved it.

Quick & Easy Cheese Bread
Cook time: 35 minutes

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 /4 cup white sugar

2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

3/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup shredded Cheddar Cheese

1 egg, beaten

3/4 cup milk

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1) Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.

2) In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cheese. In another large bowl, beat together egg, milk, and oil. Stir the flour/cheese mixture into the egg mixture, stirring until just moistened. Pour batter into prepared pan.

3) Bake in preheated oven for 35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of loaf comes out clean.

Gotta go get things ready for the class tomorrow morning.

Well I had a busy day today. Cynthia came over from Mayo. She did not get the message that the meeting was cancelled. We had a great time surfing and checking out a few blogs. She is out of the cage, so lookout world. She retired from teaching after teaching for over 30 years. Then Susan arrived from the Panhandle. She will be here most of the week so I will get to visit with her again. The link to her blog is on my blog list. She does some wonderful pages. The blog does not do her pages justice. They are awesome viewed in person.

Last night when I was watering a cute little bunny ran from under the flower bench at the front door. He was fast. I barely had a glimpse before he went around the corner. I hope he scurried to the woods behind the shop. We need to get some rain soon. It is too hot to water even in the late afternoon.

The Sunshine Stampers have their meeting tomorrow afternoon. They always come in with such great cards. Speaking of cards I better get busy and get that card done for the class this week. Too much visiting and not enough creating.

Saturday has been busy with some new faces back in the store. School is out so people have more time to have fun. The meeting tomorrow with the altered art/Mixed media group has been changed. I think they will meet next month instead of tomorrow. Lucy was going to contact everyone. Lots of things going on, parties, families, etc. So we have to wait another month before we learn the new name.

Next Sunday is Father's Day. I will be closed next Sunday in honor of my Father. He would be shaking his head right about now wondering if I had lost my mind. He often thought that. Me going into retail was never something we ever talked about. I had often thought we might open a bed & breakfast but never open a retail store. Well life is full of surprises. Scrappy's is like a bed & breakfast. There is always food around here and if I'm not careful somebody might catch me taking a power nap. Geneva is a good look out. And I do enjoy meeting and visiting people. The store is like a home where people come and have a good time. So it is better than a bed & breakfast, I don't have all the cooking and cleaning.

Have a great Saturday night.
Here is Rhett having a power nap under the kids picnic table. Boy, that power nap is sounding better and better. Don't worry Geneva I won't doze off!
See ya tomorrow from 1:00 until 5:00.

Friday, June 6, 2008

Finally Friday. Wow where does the time go. Well time has flown for Christy & Cindy and their families. It just seems yesterday we found out Christy was going to have another baby.
Sion arrived last Thursday. Here he is with Christy.
Congratulations to everyone. I held him for just a little bit and he is a little bit of a thing.

I am looking forward to Sunday's Altered/Mixed media group meeting. They are working on shrines this time. I think they will have a new name for themselves after this meeting.

Here are Cynthia, Celeste, Meri, and Joanne at a previous meeting. These ladies have so much fun. It is hard to keep up with them.

Have a great weekend. Enjoy those yard sales, The Blueberry Festival, or those honey do projects.

Remember tomorrow there will be no One Hour Layout class. Gayle said she could do a class either in the evening after work or on Saturday morning. She is in training now so her schedule could change again. Let us know what would work for you. Lucy will continue her class every other Friday morning.

Yesterday, we received some new stamps from My Sentiments Exactly. There are some beautiful script words, upper & lower case alphabet, and a wonderful recipe set. Bo Bunny shipped in some Stick Up sets. The backs of the cans are magnetic so they will stick to any metal. Great for getting you organized. The two sets we have in the store are brads and flowers.

This is a special unit Frank built for the store. He is our 'Handy Homes' man. Thank goodness he lives close. It has been rough having clothes scattered all over the house. But he has my closet up and running again. So now I can let Rhett back into his hiding space. If a storm hits he feels safer under all those clothes. I am starting to weed out and keeping only my favorite clothes. Yard sale!!!
Well stay cool and see you later.

We had a great celebration on Saturday. Our first person through the door was our very first customer two years ago, Mrs. Carol Nickodam. Everyone received 20% off all purchases, Tea and cupcakes. Several ladies joined us for lunch. And we also had a group come over from Jacksonville. They found us two years ago during our first Shop Hop experience.

New in the store is velvet , chenille, and glitter paper. There are also some wonderful velvet brads. Polka dot paper is always fun and there are a selection of colors from Doodlebug. Daisy D's new paper is supposed to arrive the first of next week. It is beautiful.

Congratulation's Gail on your new job. !!! Her one hour layout is cancelled for this Friday. We have to work out a new schedule for her layouts. Lucy's will still be every other week.

Our Summer schedule is still being developed. Be on the lookout for youth and kids classes. There will be special crops for the teens as well as a special Bo Bunny class. Then there will be Mom & Me crops. So don't sweat the cost of gas come on over and have some fun here at Scrappy's.

Let's Party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is wearing his party glasses.

Today we are two years old. And no we do not have the terrible twos. Our Scrappy family is so supportive. When everyone comes in they greet one another and ask how are you. As I say on the blog, 'Home away from home'. Thank you all for being my extended family.

Friday, May 30, 2008

Well, here we are the weekend and our anniversary celebration. Come by and celebrate with everyone.

Here are Emily & Mike drawing the winning tickets from last year.
Larie and Rose came to the party last year.Jackie loves a party, but she will be in Atlanta celebrating her granddaughter's first birthday.
Peggy was a winner for our First Anniversary.

Reviewing our classes over the last two years I came across this picture of Lucy & Michelle's first big class. The purse class was very complicated but everyone had a ball.

There is Nan, Tomi, and Cindy.

This was a long class that night. Now we are doing One Hour Layouts!
See you tomorrow.
