Tractor time!!! Yep, I went home early and got on the tractor. Boy had it been a long time since I did that. But it did not take long and I was ripping around those old oak trees. Before I had to navigate a lake and a canal, so oak trees were a piece of cake. I even drove in the pasture with Pokey. Of course I had fed him and he moved to the hay bale. The rugrats reacted the same. As I mowed their little fenced in area they were at the back door just a barking. When I finished their yard I let them out then they wanted to bark to get back in the house. Go figure. I did not get the whole yard mowed. Four acres takes a little more time than two. If our afternoon showers hold off I will be back at it today. If not today I will finish Sunday afternoon. Hopefully Frank won't fuss at me too much with the way I cut the yard. He is so much like my Daddy. Anytime we mowed for him it was a challenge to see if we passed his approval. One day I came home and Frank was on the mower. He reminded me so much of Daddy sitting on the tractor. The biggest difference was the hat. Frank wears a cap and daddy wore either a big straw hat but mostly he wore this odd shaped hat.

Here is the gang feeding Pokey. In the picture (back to front) is Hannah, James, Josh, Emily, and Joshua. This is the feed bucket I was telling the ladies I use a broom to pull the bucket over so I can feed Pokey. Well it keeps me from unlocking the side gate and walking around or racing Pokey to the bucket from the pasture side. Cause the minute you walk off the patio he heads for the gate. Either he hangs his head over the gate letting you know it is feeding time or he paces the fence line until you head for the bucket. No I do not ride. I am just babysitting. Some baby huh?

Well I have a new animal story for you. Here is a little visitor I spotted as I backed out of my garage the other morning. He was sitting right in front of Frank's truck tire. The haziness is due to camera shock. You know taking it from AC to the outdoor temperature. Well we know we have humidity this just gives a view of what it might look like if it were actually visible. Well the guy must of crawled back to the pond or he has dug a hole somewhere to lay some eggs. That happened at my other house. One morning I was outside and saw all these little turtles crawling over the grass headed for the canal.

Don't forget that I will be closed Sunday. I am only open the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.

We had a full house this morning for the coffee & card class. Some familiar faces and a few new faces. Everyone had a great time learning to paste emboss. They still hate those bows.

Here is tomorrows layout with Lucy. These are the new Daisy D's papers. The blue paper is WorldWin Doublemates. It is light blue on one side and dark blue on the reverse side. The title is made with the Cricut. Get ready to do some cutting. There is some sewing on the page but we have a zippy little elf that will do that while you are cutting those leaves.

Blueberries, Blueberries! Here is my bowl of shredded wheat and those wonderful blueberries from Dan and Rose. Celeste made homemade Blueberry jam. But I have to save the jam for some good ole fresh southern made biscuits.

Gotta go save my older rugrat from the afternoon storms. He just hates them. Most of the time he is hidding in the back corner of the closet.

Just a quick post. Lucy will have her 'One Hour Layout 'on Friday.

Monday, June 23, 2008

Hope you all had a great weekend. My Niece and family came by for a visit. She has two children. Dalton and Hannah. It was fun visiting and seeing how our families change. It seems just like yesterday I played with these nieces and nephews and now they have children. My keeping up with these little guys has left the building. Maybe if I got serious and started my mall walking I could halfway go after them. but there is nothing like having a little one come to you to be picked up and want to share your cereal. Huh Geneva? The last thing she checked on tonight was if there was cereal and milk for her to share with her grand kids.

Well tomorrows card class is finally ready. We will be doing some paste embossing and yes there is a bow on the card. You know I can't do a card without putting a bow or ribbon somewhere. This will be our first Christmas card. You know we are approaching Christmas in July.

Rose and Laree came by today. Rose brought us some wonderful blueberries from their garden. Thank you Dan. He has a green thumb. Look for him at Nobles in Live Oak.

The saga with AT&T continues. Wait till you hear the latest. A group came by today to"help" me with my bill. You know the AT&T authorized guys. Well I let them know I was not interested!!!!! The left, came back in telling me they couls save me some money. I said OK. Then he left. Then the second person came inquiring about how much my monthly bill was running. I told her the amount. Surprise came from her and then she left. A couple of customers were here and were debating on whther to wait and see if the third guy came in, but they decided to leave. It was a good thing because all three came back in and wanted me to sign a contract. They told me they faxed a copy of the changes to the phone and hw much i would save. Guess what? The proposal showed 4 lines not the three I now have plus the contract was for 3 years. Now how can 4 lines save me money. I have been down that garden path before. Needless to say I said NO!!! not interested please leave. I was a little more verbal with them than that butthey did leave.

I better get home to the rugrats.

Here we are at the weekend again. Man the time flies. I spoke to my mother-in-law in Pennsylvania and her temperature this morning was 42 degrees. Whoa baby isn't that nice, as we sit in our 90 plus weather. She said she had to wear a sweater. Can you imagine. Turn down the air!!!!

Josh came tonight and got our lawn mowed. It sure looks nice.

Hopefully everyone is healthy. There is a nasty bug going around. I'm sure it is this hot weather and cold AC. So take care of yourselves.

The new Memory Makers came today. Lot's of cute layouts.

Have a great weekend and keep taking those pictures to crop.

Happy 90th Birthday Mom Musto!!!
This is my mother-in-law whom I call MOM. Today she turns 90 years old. WOW!!! I took this picture January 2007, her pacemaker had just been installed. Mom is very active and sharp as can be. Her only problem is her hearing. But hey, I hope I can look and feel as good as she does when I'm 60. She still putters with her garden. This time of year in Pennsylvania she is busy pampering her tomato plants. In the late afternoon she walks and waters her garden. Summertime gives her a break from her chorus group. Have a great day MOM!

Why God Made Moms Answers

You may have already read this or received it by email, but I saw it on a blog (real women scrap) this morning and thought it was pretty cute.

Why God Made Moms Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you Your mother and not some other mom?
1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?
1. My Mom has always been my Mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did Mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your Mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms and dads?
1. Moms work at work and work at home & dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller and stronger, but Moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your Mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your Mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your Mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my Mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

Rhett had a better night last night. He did not get up until about 4:30. That helped me sleep a little longer. I had to be up and at the car dealers early this morning. After 3 days they finally serviced the car and have the OK from the warranty company to fix my window. Those extended warranties are great if you can make it through all the huffing and puffing.

I found out why Sarah as been absent from the store. Maddie is gonna be a big sister this December. Congratulations to everyone.

Here are Maddie & Sarah at the store today.

Maddie has learned to do scrapbooking in a special way. We should all be so adventurous.

I think that is Cinderella and her Prince. Yes, they are upside down so Maddie can look at them.

Last night I had my wildlife fix as usual. When I came around the curve at the railroad tracks there was a skunk scooting across the pasture. Thank goodness I was going in the opposite direction. Then when I got home there was a big owl in the yard. I tried to get a picture but it was too dark. I loved seeing it fly up into the trees.

Everyone have a great Father's Day Sunday. Remember I will be closed.

See ya Saturday.

Thursday, June 12, 2008

Well, the rugrats did not make it to the groomers. Prissy was a happy camper. Rhett was not feeling well so I took him to the Vet. Needless to say $$$$ later they decided he has a nervous stomach. He has antibiotic and some nasty paste to help him get back to normal. She also told me even though he did not like the food she put him on it was better for him. Sounds like a pediatrician doesn't it. When I took him home today I gave him his nerve pill. Hopefully, when the storms hit he will be a little calmer.

I passed these guys on the way to work the other day.

I bet they are loving this weather and are not worried about the price of gas. The road I come to town on is so beautiful and full of all kinds of wildlife. One section of the road has a canopy of trees. The drive gets me psyched for the day or relaxes me in the evening on the way home.

The book club meeting is Monday night. We will be working on a book about me. We are always doing pages of other people not ourselves. The first meeting is titled 'Then & Now'. Bring baby pictures and pictures of you now. You will work on these pages during the meeting. At the meeting we will decide what the next theme will be. The possibilities are limitless. We are gonna have some fun and learn some interesting things about ourselves and each other.

Well it is time to close the doors. See ya tomorrow!

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

Gosh, where does the time go!!! Here we are on Wednesday. Remember Friday's One Hour Layout has been cancelled. Come Friday morning and crop your own page. I'll put on the coffee.

Handyman Frank has worked on the parking lot flooding problem this week. I think he has it all worked out. We expected a little rain today to test it, but so far the rain has skirted around us. Hopefully we won't be rowing up to the front door next time we get a downpour.

Tomorrow, the rugrats go to the groomers. I have to figure a way to trick Prissy again. She just hates going. My little Prissy is just a homebody. The only time she likes to go is when I take them for a stroller ride or a ride on the golf cart. Oh well, her stay at the groomers is short.

Daisy D's new rub-on tape runners have arrived. Their new Chloe Marie paper is very pretty and more like their traditional designs. New Bazzill blossoms, chips, and the new wedding line. This new paper is 12x12 and has some beautiful designs. One design has butterflies. WOW!
There are a few new Bling colors. There is a pink and a creamy yellow.

Here is the bread recipe Geneva made for the cooking club last week. Everyone loved it.

Quick & Easy Cheese Bread
Cook time: 35 minutes

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 /4 cup white sugar

2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

3/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup shredded Cheddar Cheese

1 egg, beaten

3/4 cup milk

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1) Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.

2) In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cheese. In another large bowl, beat together egg, milk, and oil. Stir the flour/cheese mixture into the egg mixture, stirring until just moistened. Pour batter into prepared pan.

3) Bake in preheated oven for 35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of loaf comes out clean.

Gotta go get things ready for the class tomorrow morning.

Sunday, June 8, 2008

Well I had a busy day today. Cynthia came over from Mayo. She did not get the message that the meeting was cancelled. We had a great time surfing and checking out a few blogs. She is out of the cage, so lookout world. She retired from teaching after teaching for over 30 years. Then Susan arrived from the Panhandle. She will be here most of the week so I will get to visit with her again. The link to her blog is on my blog list. She does some wonderful pages. The blog does not do her pages justice. They are awesome viewed in person.

Last night when I was watering a cute little bunny ran from under the flower bench at the front door. He was fast. I barely had a glimpse before he went around the corner. I hope he scurried to the woods behind the shop. We need to get some rain soon. It is too hot to water even in the late afternoon.

The Sunshine Stampers have their meeting tomorrow afternoon. They always come in with such great cards. Speaking of cards I better get busy and get that card done for the class this week. Too much visiting and not enough creating.

Saturday, June 7, 2008

Saturday has been busy with some new faces back in the store. School is out so people have more time to have fun. The meeting tomorrow with the altered art/Mixed media group has been changed. I think they will meet next month instead of tomorrow. Lucy was going to contact everyone. Lots of things going on, parties, families, etc. So we have to wait another month before we learn the new name.

Next Sunday is Father's Day. I will be closed next Sunday in honor of my Father. He would be shaking his head right about now wondering if I had lost my mind. He often thought that. Me going into retail was never something we ever talked about. I had often thought we might open a bed & breakfast but never open a retail store. Well life is full of surprises. Scrappy's is like a bed & breakfast. There is always food around here and if I'm not careful somebody might catch me taking a power nap. Geneva is a good look out. And I do enjoy meeting and visiting people. The store is like a home where people come and have a good time. So it is better than a bed & breakfast, I don't have all the cooking and cleaning.

Have a great Saturday night.
Here is Rhett having a power nap under the kids picnic table. Boy, that power nap is sounding better and better. Don't worry Geneva I won't doze off!
See ya tomorrow from 1:00 until 5:00.

Friday, June 6, 2008

Finally Friday. Wow where does the time go. Well time has flown for Christy & Cindy and their families. It just seems yesterday we found out Christy was going to have another baby.
Sion arrived last Thursday. Here he is with Christy.
Congratulations to everyone. I held him for just a little bit and he is a little bit of a thing.

I am looking forward to Sunday's Altered/Mixed media group meeting. They are working on shrines this time. I think they will have a new name for themselves after this meeting.

Here are Cynthia, Celeste, Meri, and Joanne at a previous meeting. These ladies have so much fun. It is hard to keep up with them.

Have a great weekend. Enjoy those yard sales, The Blueberry Festival, or those honey do projects.

Thursday, June 5, 2008

Remember tomorrow there will be no One Hour Layout class. Gayle said she could do a class either in the evening after work or on Saturday morning. She is in training now so her schedule could change again. Let us know what would work for you. Lucy will continue her class every other Friday morning.

Yesterday, we received some new stamps from My Sentiments Exactly. There are some beautiful script words, upper & lower case alphabet, and a wonderful recipe set. Bo Bunny shipped in some Stick Up sets. The backs of the cans are magnetic so they will stick to any metal. Great for getting you organized. The two sets we have in the store are brads and flowers.

This is a special unit Frank built for the store. He is our 'Handy Homes' man. Thank goodness he lives close. It has been rough having clothes scattered all over the house. But he has my closet up and running again. So now I can let Rhett back into his hiding space. If a storm hits he feels safer under all those clothes. I am starting to weed out and keeping only my favorite clothes. Yard sale!!!
Well stay cool and see you later.

Wednesday, June 4, 2008

We had a great celebration on Saturday. Our first person through the door was our very first customer two years ago, Mrs. Carol Nickodam. Everyone received 20% off all purchases, Tea and cupcakes. Several ladies joined us for lunch. And we also had a group come over from Jacksonville. They found us two years ago during our first Shop Hop experience.

New in the store is velvet , chenille, and glitter paper. There are also some wonderful velvet brads. Polka dot paper is always fun and there are a selection of colors from Doodlebug. Daisy D's new paper is supposed to arrive the first of next week. It is beautiful.

Congratulation's Gail on your new job. !!! Her one hour layout is cancelled for this Friday. We have to work out a new schedule for her layouts. Lucy's will still be every other week.

Our Summer schedule is still being developed. Be on the lookout for youth and kids classes. There will be special crops for the teens as well as a special Bo Bunny class. Then there will be Mom & Me crops. So don't sweat the cost of gas come on over and have some fun here at Scrappy's.
