Home at last!!!

What fun it is to be home.  I think I am just an old home body.  It was great seeing Mom Musto.  Good grief she is very active and so alert.  She cooks and keeps house and she is 94 years old!  I'm a lot younger than she is and I don't cook.  Well maybe I will start.  She had the most wonderful tomatoes.  I almost made myself sick eating them.

I was very fortunate with my flight into Atlanta.  I was expecting a roller coaster ride with the hurricane bands.  But got in just fine.  There sure were rain bands all around.

I rented a car for my trip to Altoona.  It was a little SUV.  It was little but Mom Musto kept saying how big it was. It reminded me of my little sports car.  Sitting low.  This was the first time I rented a car and actually read the manual.  The rental company only gave me one key and that did not have the fob for locking the car.  So I had to lock the car with the button on the door.   Everytime I locked that darn car and unlocked it with the key.  Yep, set the alarm off. Finally, my last day I figured out how to keep from setting off the alarm.  I have another story about the car but I will save it for another post.

Gee it is good to be home.

Hot Altoona

Well that heat has arrived back in Altoona. You know it is hot when Mom Musto turns the AC on. It is supposed to stay pretty warm until the end of my stay .

Keeping an eye out on the tropical weather. It looks like it may impact my trip home. I'm thinking Fall trip next time.

Yesterday we cleaned ceiling lights, kitchen curtains, and the garage. Today will be a quiet day. Tonight we have dinner with Mom's family.

It is amazing how they carved out the side of the mountain to put up this shopping center. This is where I go to Panera's. It is all open air.
Here is a shot from Panera's window.

Italian

My goodness I can hardly believe it is Thursday. I guess I have been getting enough rest because I was awake at 5:45 this morning. So off I go to Panera's again. Nothing like hazelnut coffee and smooth jazz.

Last night Arthur's cousins took us to DelGrosso's Amusement Park. Through the Summer they do Wednesday Italian style dinners. With a name like DelGrosso's what else would you expect! Last night was stuffed peppers with spaghetti. Yummy!!!

Missing my Craftroom

Altoona has every craft store. There is a small Michael's, a small Joann's, an AC Moore, and a huge Hobby Lobby. Where's my Craftroom. Over 800 miles away. The main focus in all these stores is home decoration. All the Fall and Christmas decorations are out in full force,

Enjoyed a morning coffee at Panera's this morning. It sits up on a hill overlooking the city. You can even see the wind turbines sitting on top of mountain.

The flowers are so pretty up here. Huge butterfly bushes. The petunias are so colorful. One of my favorites blooming along the roads is queen Anne's lace. Another not so favorite is Goldenrod!!!!

As you step out the backdoor there is a wonderful rose bush that is blooming. It has an old fashion rose smell. Reminds me of my grandmother.

Cool weather

I finally made my trip north. Almost missed my Philly connection. The plane was an hour late. But I hustled and slid in as the were closing the gate.

The weather has been very nice. 50's at night and 70's in the daytime. But warm weather is on its way. Mid 80's by the end of the week.

This is my Mother-in-law enjoying her homegrown tomato. She just turned 94 and still has a little garden.

What a busy couple of weeks.  Two weekends ago my siblings and their spouses journeyed to
Alabama.  We went to help my Aunt and Uncle celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary.   Can you imagine!!!  They both looked wonderful and had some great stories to tell.  This new phone made it so much fun traveling.  Jeez,  you did not even have to be in the same car and ask "Are we there yet?".  I think my brother was just about to kill me.  But I made it worth while with all the misspelled words.  That darn keyboard is way too small.  One word I messed up was smokies.  Yep, left off the s.  Then I was trying to text my cousins name and kept missing the right letter.  Aw Heck, I just called little brother then.

Today started my journey to see my 94 year old mother-in-law.  She still lives by herself and does her own cooking.  I know you all have heard me talk about this trip and finally it is here.  Can't imagine sitting still for two hours.  Jeez Louise!!!!  I spoke with her yesterday and she was so excited.  She has several places she wants to go.  Hopefully, we will manage those little trips.  I am not taking my laptop and hoping this new smart phone will help me keep in touch.  So if it works I will keep you updated from the road.

I will miss the next gathering at Gateway.  It was so much fun the last time I went. So be sure to be in touch with Linda Northrup or some of the other ladies about joining them.

Have a great day.
